Exciting Google Poetry
As part of a module investigating the production process and how new media and multimedia affect ownership of material, I had to create a piece that questioned the production process.
The programme I created can continuously generate semi-structured verse from web pages found by google, when given a search string. The idea was to use an exciting words index to cut the web pages up with, and reform them into verse.
The Exciting Words were compiled from a survey of people I carried out, asking them to list words they found exciting.
The programme was written using Visual Studio .NET, in C#. It incorpoates the Google web service, and therefore requires a computer connected to the web to run.
The source and executables are copyright of Matthew Ellen and the University of Plymouth.
